ASA recognized the ethics and practices of some of the best subcontractors, general contractors, field and office personnel in the construction industry at the ASA Midwest Council’s Annual Awards Gala held Saturday, April 23, at the Four Seasons Hotel.
“I would like to congratulate this year’s recipient of the G.C. Office Employee of the Year – Linda Bernhard of LANDCO Construction,” said Tom Woodcock, ASA – Midwest Council presenter.
Linda graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Architectural Engineering, emphasizing in Construction Management. She began her career as a Field engineer with Turner Construction, gaining valuable “ground up” construction experience with Hoechst Marion Roussel and Sigma Chemical companies. Linda moved on to an ENR Top 50 Design/Build Contractor, specializing in interior renovation as a project engineer and estimator. This experience led Linda to her current role at LANDCO, which incorporates all of her skills as a multi-talented manager.
Linda’s project leadership reputation in the industry has resulted in her managing LANDCO’s numerous Fortune 500 Corporate accounts and her clients, subcontractors, and superintendents always express their appreciation of her ability to lead a successful project from conception to completion. One of Linda’s clients stated the following of her leadership ability: “Linda’s extremely thorough meeting minutes and notes of all encounters were crucial in maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of the building. Her outstanding professionalism was matched only by her genuine concern for our satisfaction of the job. Even after completion of the project, she has been extremely helpful with situations that have developed, responding just as quickly and completely with resolutions.”
Linda Bernhard told the ASA gala audience:
“What an amazing honor to be the recipient of this award this evening. Growing up in the construction industry, I had a wonderful teacher and leader in my dad. He was a great example that patience, dedication and treating everyone with respect are the keys to success in business. I began my career as a project manager 20 years ago. And I learned very quickly that the approach that I was most comfortable with leading projects was very similar to what I had learned growing up. Patience, attention to detail and respect became my motto, as well.
I was fortunate enough, early in my career, to have Ron Landolt as a mentor. He provided the unbelievable opportunity for me to join and help create LANDCO Construction in 2001. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity, as it has allowed me to grow as a project manager, as a leader, and as a person. Ron taught me that it wasn’t about the general contractor – it was about the success of the project and ALL of the members involved.
As my career progressed, I proved to myself that all team members, including everyone from the client, to the design firms, to my own support staff, and most importantly the subcontractors, were essential to the success of any project. I am extremely proud of the subcontractors that I work with every day. You bring wisdom, experience and dedication to every project that we work on together. I know that I can depend on you, and you are clearly the experts in your fields. I am extremely grateful that you have allowed me the opportunity to be on your team, and I look forward to much more success, working with you in the future,” Linda said.
