The design staff at HOK developed a state-of-the-art studio for designing and constructing architectural models. The facility’s flexible, collaborative workspace separates “clean space” for final model assembly, from a sound-isolated workshop where the heavier tools are utilized. The lighting and ductwork required strict coordination with the dust collection system in the model shop; and specialty designed acoustical panels, along with double layers of drywall and insulation, were installed to aid in noise reduction in the workshop area. LANDCO Construction also installed sustainable features such as FSC certified wood doors, lighting sensors and low-flow plumbing fixtures. The HOK 4,500 SF interior renovation is currently seeking LEED certification status.
